All
hunts will take place out of stationary blinds or floating boat blinds.
Hunters will be hunting out of and or transported in a 2006 21’ Carolina
Skiff, with a 90 hp. Honda 4 stroke. In addition, some field hunting
may take place for Canada Geese. As most duck hunters are aware, waterfowling is weather dependant so pray for cold weather
up North!
Duck hunters can expect
opportunities to harvest both divers and puddle ducks for a mixed
bag. Some of the more common species taken on our duck hunts are
Mallards, Black Ducks, Redheads, Canvasbacks, Bufflehead, Goldeneyes,
Bluebills(Scaup), Ruddy ducks, Hooded
Mergansers, Common Mergansers, and Red-Breasted Mergansers.
Goose
hunters can expect to harvest both Giant Canada and Lesser Canada
Geese. There is an occasional chance that a Snow goose may be mixed
in with the Canada’s, but it is not the norm for the Western Shore of the Chesapeake
Bay.
Sea Duck Hunts will take
place out of the floating boat blind and hunters can expect to harvest
Black Scoter, Surf Scoter and White Winged Scoter, as well as Oldsquaw.
There are also opportunities to shoot passing divers as well.
Tundra
swan hunters that were lucky enough to draw a permit, have a great
opportunity to harvest a trophy Tundra swan, as there are thousands
of wintering birds in this area. Our swan hunting success
rates are very good, with nearly every hunter bagging a swan.
